Bonobos

Bonobos are our closest living relatives. They are highly social and emotional animals who live in small tightly-knit communities of females, males and their offspring. Female bonobos have only one baby at a time and it is usually four to seven years before they give birth to the next one. The loss of any individual bonobo is a severe impact for the entire community.

The following film gives you an insight into the life and risks of the bonobos we observe. It is commented in Lingala by our local assistant Lambert Booto and has been documented and provided with English subtitles by our volunteer Robin Loveridge.
